CFA Society Colorado Professional Mentoring Program

Purpose

Provide a unique, 6-month experience pairing CFACO mentees seeking professional growth with seasoned Society mentors.

Please note that this program should not be used as a direct recruiting or job search tool. Instead, it should be viewed as an opportunity for CFACO members of varying degrees of experience to network, provide and receive guidance, and exchange ideas.

Benefits to the Mentee:

Benefits to the Mentor:

  • Provide a one-on-one relationship built on encouragement, trust, and development for another CFA Society Colorado member.
  • Chance to directly and meaningfully contribute to the development of future leaders within the CFA Society Colorado.

  • Opportunity to learn and grow your career from “reverse mentoring.”

Eligibility:

  • Limited to current members of the CFA Society Colorado (i.e., Charterholders or candidates of the CFA designation). If you are not a member of CFACO, you can learn more about becoming a member here.  

Mentee Qualifications & Responsibilities

  • Have enthusiasm for the opportunity to develop networking and other professional skills.
  • Have a desire to be challenged professionally.
  • Be proactive in meetings and value mentor’s investment of time and experience.
  • Identify realistic goals and timeframes, communicate effectively, and follow through on commitments.

  • Accept constructive feedback and act in a timely manner.

Mentor Qualifications & Responsibilities

  • Have the desire, ability, and expertise to support and guide a mentee.
  • Be willing to share your personal and professional experience, insights, and network with mentee.
  • Be willing to facilitate introductions to other members on behalf of mentee.
  • Be a good listener, have a sense of humor, and give constructive feedback.
  • Commit to being accessible and engaged for the duration of the program (one year).

  • There is a preference for mentors to be Charterholders.

Requirements and Expectations

  • During the 6-month program, mentors and mentees will be required to meet/speak by phone 1-2 hours a month, at a minimum.
  • At the conclusion of the program, both mentors and mentees will submit final results and be invited to attend a celebration event.
  • We will plan periodic social gatherings for mentorship program participants. We encourage you to participate as often as you are able.
