 Overview

In 1955 the Denver Society of Security Analysts (DSSA) was admitted to membership in The Financial Analysts Federation (FAF) --now part of the CFA Institute (CFAI). The DSSA was incorporated in 1968 pursuant to the Colorado Nonprofit Corporation Act. In 2005 the DSSA name was updated to the CFA Society of Colorado.

There are over 800 members of the CFA Society of Colorado, including security analysts, portfolio managers, academicians, and other investment professionals. Over 80% of the members are Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA®), and many other members are candidates for this professional designation.

The CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation is an internationally recognized credential awarded to investment practitioners who pass three sequential examinations over a minimum of three years in a broad-range of investment topics including: portfolio management, ethics, equity analysis, fixed income analysis, accounting, quantitative analysis and economics. In addition to the rigorous testing, a CFA charterholder must work in the investment profession analyzing or managing investments for at least four years and must agree to abide by the CFA Institute's Code of Ethics.

The principal activity of the CFA Society of Colorado involves educational programs, company presentations, holiday event, Forecast dinner and social networking events for members and guests.

 Get Involved !

Volunteer for your local society! The CFA Society of Colorado is always looking for new volunteers. Getting involved is a great way to network and to make new friends.

Why volunteer for a committee?
Through committee activities, members have an opportunity to contribute their ideas, talent, and organizational skills to the common of goals of the committee and the CFA Society of Colorado. Our Committees provide a forum for members to develop professional relationships while building their knowledge.  Committee work puts you in contact with other investment professionals.  It is a great way to gain additional expertise in new areas or gather new ideas in your current area and to enhance leadership abilities.

What is involved in being a CFA Society of committee volunteer?
Activities vary by committee, but may include planning presentations on topics pertaining to the committee's area of interest, disseminating information on a particular topic, or building relationships with specific groups in the investment community.
